Terms of service

OfficiantScript is operated by Archelaus LLC (“we”, “us”). By buying or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What we provide

We provide a one-time purchase that generates a ceremony or service script and the accompanying documents — a run-sheet, cue cards, a checklist, and a duties sheet — from answers you supply, and a web-based editor for changing them.

What we are not

We do not provide legal advice. The marriage-license duties sheet is informational only, drawn from published state guidance, and it names its source. Requirements change and counties differ from their states. You must confirm every detail with the office that issued the license — which is a county clerk in some states and a probate judge, a town clerk, or a register of deeds in others. We are not responsible for a marriage that is not properly recorded.

We do not ordain anyone, and we do not verify that any person has legal authority to solemnize a marriage — confirming the officiant’s authority, with the office that issued the license, is your responsibility. We make no representation that any ceremony conducted using our materials is legally valid. On the funeral side, we do not provide funeral-director services and the logistics sheet is a general description of common practice, not instructions for a specific funeral home.

The content you supply

You are responsible for what you tell us about other people. You confirm that you have the right to provide it and that it is accurate. Our generation is constrained to work only from the facts you supply, and does not invent details about the people named — but you are responsible for reviewing the content before it is used, and, where you pass it to someone else to deliver, for making sure that person reviews it too. The person who delivers the ceremony may not be a party to these terms; that responsibility stays with you.

Do not submit content you do not have the right to use, including text still in copyright. Where a reading is under copyright we list it by title and author only and do not reproduce it; obtaining a copy is yours to do.

Your access

A purchase gives you access for 12 months from the date of purchase. Access is by a link we email you rather than an account. That link is a credential: anyone holding it can read and edit your ceremony. Share it deliberately, and use the revoke control in the editor if it travels further than you meant. We are not liable for access obtained through a link you shared.

At the end of the access window your ceremony content and rendered files are deleted. We will email you before that happens so you can download everything.

Price and refunds

The price is $39, charged once, at the time of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.

If you are not happy with your purchase, for any reason, email us within 30 days of payment and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason or complete any form.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the service to produce content that harasses, defames, or impersonates.
• Do not attempt to access ceremonies that are not yours.
• Do not automate, scrape, or resell the service. Generation is rate-limited and budget-capped per ceremony; circumventing those limits is a breach of these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a ceremony, service, or filing that did not go as intended.

The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that generated content will be free of error, suitable for any particular occasion, or acceptable to any officiating body, religious authority, or government office.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by contacting us first will be settled by binding individual arbitration, seated in New York County, New York, rather than in court, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. You and Archelaus LLC each waive the right to participate in a class action. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you have where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date, and will not apply retroactively to a purchase already made.
